Boston Engagement Photos…..

Wow Spring is almost here. We are all looking forward to the warmer weather. Colleen and I have been busy designing and are looking forward to our shooting season to open up. I really miss photographing each weekend seeing what each day will bring. Until then we shoot as much as we can. We just finished a few engagement sessions both in Boston and the North Shore. Here below we put an engagement Vplay together for Caroline and Jason. There wedding is July 4th at the Boston Harbor Hotel. We were able to photograph inside the dome area for the Engagement Session. I love the daylight there. I hate using flash. People usually over-light with flash and you get this cheesy ‘hi its me and my uncle shot this’ look. If we use flash it is because we have to and at that usage should always be light. Enjoy the engagement session images and check back mid-July for their Wedding Day Vplay-It will be great! Erik

Go Go Colleen….Design Extraordinaire!

Great to see a Wedding Day come together in the final album. We had a blast on Mary Catherine and Patrick’s Wedding Day. Fun bride and groom great planning and a whole lot of good people. We photographed their Wedding, met with Mary Catherine and Patrick then we got the design rolling. Colleen went to town designing-awesome. Its great to be there on a wedding day, see and feel what is important, then finalize the presentation in an album. Wow. This is one of our favorite designs for one of our favorite Brides! Thanks Mary Catherine and Patrick from both Colleen and myself——Erik

New Business Cards!

So August has been a crazy month! We’ve had weddings mostly doubles every weekend. I can’t wait to do a recap on the month of August. The images are fantastic. While we geared up for the busy season we of course had to update our business card collection. With so many awesome images it was hard to narrow them down.

If your ever at a wedding that we photograph.. you’ll have to check them out! Last weekend we were down in New Haven for Katherine and Jay. We knew we were in for a good time because we have already “hung out” out with them at Sarah and Pete’s wedding last September! Well what do you know… a couple of Sarah and Pete’s wedding images made the new business cards. I think this picture sums up how excited they were to be famous.

Yes, Pete and Sarah.. you are both a very big deal!

Vplays Galore!

I can’t believe August is here already. We have had a busy couple of weeks. My birthday was last friday and we have pictures from that to put up and share!! Hopefully I will do that tomorrow.

I thought I would take some time and post our most recent vplays for you all to enjoy! I know that a lot of you check our blog every day for something new so here we go! Three vplays to keep you entertained.

Cory and Adam June 27th 2008
Searles Castle Windham NH

Cory wrote me this wonderful email right after I shared her vplay with her. I think it pretty much sums up what we do as photographers ☺ Thank you Cory and Adam for an amazing time!

Colleen and Erik, thank you so much for all of the hard work you and your team have done to make our wedding day photography simply spectacular!

I have played our V-play over several times in the last few minutes and am just in awe with the work you have put together. Everything looks so lovely, and I wouldn’t change a thing.

I love that you paid special attention to all of the little details that meant so much to us. The photgraph of Adam and his mother dancing with the photo of his father in the frame is so heart warming. I know this will be one of many images we will traesure for years to come. In your own special way, you helped us capture that he truly was there with us.

While we were planning our wedding, we tried to incorporate all of the touches we could think of, to make our 4-legged friend Lucky a member of the day. And, we are just tickled pink to hear the opening song of our v-play… thanks for opening our eyes to such a wonderful song.

I wish I could hug you each right now. I am so thankful that we had you as a photographers, and we look forward to seeing the Pictage gallery when ready.

Hugs & Smiles. Have a great weekend,
–Cory

Ashley and Alan July 12th 2008
Spring Valley Country Club Sharon, MA

One thing we love is seeing the same people over again! We had the pleasure of shooting Ashley’s sister Whitney back in 2005. So returning again in 2008 was so much fun! Whitney just had a baby and was the maid of honor in Ashley’s wedding. Both girls got ready at their parents house. It was nice to be back in a familiar setting. Looking back at Whitney’s photos you can see similar details shot at Ashley’s wedding. We looked forward to working with the family again and it was a fun day all around!

Congrats Ashley and Alan!

Cheri and Brian July 19th 2008
Chatham Bars Inn Chatham, MA

Cheri and Brian both lucked out for beautiful weather on their wedding day. They got married over looking the ocean and it couldn’t of been anymore perfect. We had lots of fun shooting down the beach during the day and at night. The moon turned a really vibrant orange color and it made for some unique photo opportunities. We love what the summer months can offer us visually and this day was no exception.

Congrats Cheri and Brian!

Best Day at work….. Ever

Well, what can I say… There’s never a dull moment here at work…

Matt and Leah have been really close with us throughout the year. When we shot their engagement session last summer we were discussing their wedding plans and what they expected out of the wedding. One thing they made absolutely clear to us was that there would be NO chicken dance at the wedding. So of course it became this long running joke that we would higher a chicken to come and dance at their wedding. I remember throughout the year Erik and I would say that for the wedding we need to do the chicken dance idea. Of course the wedding came and went.. and we fell through on our chicken plan. Shame on us..

We really enjoy Matt and Leah. It was so much fun on their wedding day and we found two great new friends out of those whole wedding process! A couple of weeks ago we were at a wedding and I realized that the reception was down the street from Leah and Matt’s house. Erik and I thought it would be a fantastic idea to surprise them after the wedding! Or even better sneaking into their apt building when they aren’t there.. And waiting till they come home and surprising them! Stalkers? No I don’t think so! What a fun night that was! Who wouldn’t love you’re two wedding photographers showing up on a Saturday night to hang out? Matt and Leah are a blast. And not to mention we had our cameras with us so of course we had to do what we did best..

Okay.. so fast forward to today…. It’s Erik’s birthday. Matt and Leah gave me a heads up last week that they had something planned.. well needless to say, Erik and I got a surprise guest here at PWP this afternoon. I will let the photo explain itself!

Matt and Leah…I hope you realize that we know when your birthdays are.. I sense an epic battle is about to begin!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ERIK. It definitely started out with a …. Chicken!!!!

Mystic Aquarium 6-28-08

Erik, Nikki, and I (also Niki – the intern!) had an incredible time in Mystic, Connecticut. Joe and Taelese were such a great couple to work with and their wedding party had us laughing the entire time. The ceremony was in a cute church on a hill overlooking the town, the dress was absolutely breathtaking (especially when it was spread over rocks on the beach with the fog rolling in and a ship in the background!), and the images are like something out of a movie! Cocktail hour kicked off my favorite part of the day at Mystic Aquarium.

I thought it was such a unique idea and the Beluga Whales were very cooperative for pictures! The reception was held inside where delicious food and good music lasted all night! Narrowing down these pictures was not easy and I hope everyone enjoys them as much as I do. It truly was a fairytale wedding and we wish Joe and Taelese all the best! Thank you for allowing us to be a part of this amazing day! Congratulations!

Locked and Loaded

Wow. 2008 has started off with a bang. Both Colleen and I are revved up and looking for images that are hidden and shadowed by the skin of a Wedding Day. We see and capture those fractured moments that wiz by us like a visiting Dragon Fly on a petal of a Day Lily. Our Images are caught within the fabric of the lives of all who attend the Wedding Day. Look at these images from Castle Hill in Ipswich. It was so hard to pick only these few. There are hundreds more all A+ and awaiting their fate….vPlay, vShow, Album, Wall Canvas or Photo-who knows where they will end up. We captured them and now those moments seen have come and gone. I know you think my opinion is tainted, but maybe there is more than the ‘hire me’ aspect of me as a Wedding Photographer.

I am amazed that there is a population of Brides that do not put the priority of their Wedding Photography first or close to the top of their Wedding Day attributes. When it is all said and done, what is left after the Wedding Day-not much-memories-thoughts-feelings-a folded and boxed dress-perhaps some dried flowers-a top of a cake that will be tasted then tossed a year latter-perhaps a video that will be watched only a few times…. and the Photography. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS hire a professional who will deliver your Wedding Day images as if the Wedding was that of their closest friend. There are only a few photographers that go deeper than scratching the surface of what could be or could have been captured.

A long time ago ~2002 ish when I started being a ‘Wedding Photographer’ as a friend doing a favor, all I wanted was to capture 2-3 great images that I was so proud of. Images that were executed at a level above most shooters out there. Images that encapsulated time in a frozen second. Now, it is so hard to pick those great images out of what we capture. We have 100-200 images that are our favorites of each wedding and they all are so different. It is such an unbelievable feeling to show up on a Wedding Day equipped with the skills, knowledge and experience that allow us to see capture and extract what we do.

We are like walking image-seeing machines. We see things that most do not even know can be captured, then extract what is needed to show our vision, and then move on. We are trying to keep our ‘here client look at these images’ at around a 1000 count, but ouch…. it is hard to narrow them down to our 1000 count! We are regularly shooting 5000 plus images on a wedding day, and of so many different attributes the ‘crunch-down’ is hard to navigate. But those images that were meant to be quickly rising to the top and shine through the multi image edit.

It’s an odd thing. We have developed a skill to weave in and out of a Wedding Day with the stealth of a cat, not stomping on anything, steering the direction we travel, and seeing the Matrix…but throughout our Wedding Day travels we still have a blast…
